Why Amethyst?

Amethyst's 100 Hour Mat Pilates Teacher Training is designed in alignment with National Pilates Certification Program (NPCP) standards and curriculum, providing a comprehensive foundation for teaching contemporary mat Pilates and preparing graduates who wish to pursue national certification to sit for the NPCP Mat Pilates exam.

 

Learn from a teaching team with 15+ years of combined experience, led by Olivia Spector and Rita Thompson, with expertise spanning contemporary and classical Pilates, yoga, barre, and mindful movement. You'll also receive dedicated education in injury prevention, safe movement, and thoughtful modifications from Meg Sullivan, Director of Athletic Training at Gordon College.

Our goal is for you to leave with more than a repertoire of exercises- you'll develop the knowledge, hands on teaching experience, and confidence to lead safe, intentional, well-rounded Pilates classes of your own.

Education Curriculum

• Pilates history, philosophy, and principles

• Functional anatomy + physiology for movement professionals

  • On demand with quiz- to be completed before weekend intensives begin

• The original 34 Joseph Pilates mat exercises, including purpose, alignment, progressions, regressions + modifications

• Contemporary mat Pilates repertoire alignment, regressions + modifications

• Safe movement patterns and injury prevention

• Common orthopedic conditions and injury modifications

• Prenatal and postpartum considerations

• Trauma-informed teaching practices

• Class sequencing and programming for 45–60 minute classes

• Effective cueing techniques, observation skills, and teaching methodology

• Professional ethics and the business of teaching Pilates

 

Self Paced Observation + Practice Teaching Hours

• 30 hours class observation

• 5 hours practice teaching

 

Final Practicum

• Written 45-minute contemporary mat Pilates class plan

• Practical teaching assessment via submitted class video

• Individual instructor feedback prior to certification

Snow Makeup Dates

Please reserve February 21 + February 27, 2027 as potential snow makeup dates. These dates will only be used if a scheduled intensive needs to be rescheduled due to inclement weather!

What's Included

Tuition includes the complete 100-hour Mat Pilates Teacher Training experience, educational materials, mentorship, and all required training components outlined above.

Trainees will receive a complimentary Unlimited Membership at Amethyst from January 23–February 20, 2027 during the weekend intensives, plus access to a discounted Unlimited Membership for up to 3 months after completing the educational curriculum to support continued class observation, shadowing, and learning.

 

Please note: Tuition does not include the registration fee for the optional NPCP Mat Pilates Certification Exam, or the cost of the course text, "Return to Life Through Contrology" by Joseph H. Pilates. Tuition is also non refundable or transferrable to future trainings if not completed.
